Hot Snaps is a facebook application and competition held by new beer brand XXXX Summer Bright Lager. As well as a facebook application a competition that sat on a separate site within facebook was also required. Users were asked to upload their favorite summer photos which would be voted on by other uses. The campaign has been a great success with over 9000 fans.
The Nation is an all English news online/offline newspaper in Thailand. As a frequent reader of the Nation news I decided to re-design the application as I though the current interface was not as user friendly or polished as it could have been. I design this interface with a better user experience in mind as well as stronger aesthetics and improved user flow.
The Vote Earth iPhone application was intended to create awareness and allow people to show support for Earth Hour. The user submits a 'vote' by spinning a dynamo to generate enough power to send their vote to Copenhagen, which is where the Vote Earth Summit will be held in late 2009. This is my first experience in designing an iPhone app and I found it a very rewarding experience.
The 5 Seeds blogger outreach was intended to create a buzz and generate publicity prior to the official launch of the 5 Seeds cider launch. A package was sent to influential industry bloggers around Australia containing campaign related paraphernalia and a link to this site. The actual campaign was not mentioned so there needed to be a sense of mystery and excitement involved in the design.
The NSW Department of Education approached Holler to design and build an online/offline game that could educate year 9 students about the negative effects of cannabis use. They wanted the game to be on the same level as teenaged kids and not appear dull and boring, as were their previous attempts at anti-drug education. An Air app version of the game has been installed on all year 9 student's laptops across NSW.
FHM Recovered was a competition to design a cover for the Australian FHM magazine. The user could use the site to create their own cover or download a PSD template. Users would then submit their designs to the gallery section of the site and other users would vote on the quality of the design. The campaign was ultimately successful receiving hundreds of submitted designs.
The design facelift of www.getmusic.com.au was the third phase of the site that I have been involved in. It was a chance to rectify some of the site's misfortunes and re-think the user journey while generally maintaining the look and feel of the current site.
The objective was to simplify the design to allow an easier and more enjoyable user experience. All of the sites original customization features have been removed and more focus has been put on the content of the site. The site is set to go live early 2010.
VCARD is a virtual credit card that can be used to purchase products online. They wanted an instructional animation that explained the details and function of the card. It needed to be enjoyable to watch and, since the product was being aimed at a younger demographic, it couldn't appear too corporate or related to traditional types of credit card.
