I've spent 20+ years in design leadership at Google in Sunnyvale, Nokia in San Francisco and Helsinki, and across organizations where the stakes were high and the decisions were mine to make.
What I've seen consistently: careers stall when designers stay in execution mode long after the market starts asking for something different.
